GRAPEVINE -- Elton Erron Roberts Jr., 61, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, Sept. 4, 2014. Memorial service: Join us in a celebration of his life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at First United Methodist Church, 422 Church St., Grapevine. Memorials: Donations may be made to the Methodist Children's Home, 1111 Herring Ave., Waco, Texas 76708. Elton and Kaye have been married for 42 years. He lived life for his family and friends. He was an avid golfer, hunter, outdoorsman and gardener. He loved music, Friday night high school football games and family sporting events. He had a gentle and generous heart and a contagious laugh. He touched many people's lives and had many cherished friends. He had been a member of First United Methodist Church for over 30 years. Born in Snyder, Elton was a native Texan of several generations. He graduated from high school in Crane and earned a B.S. in computer science at Angelo State University. He lived in the West Texas area and Grapevine for the majority of his life. He worked for Amoco Oil, McDonnell Douglas, EDS and numerous oilfield-related companies and was a small-business owner. Special thanks to the staff at Kindred Nursing Home in Grapevine who cared for him for years, and to Covenant Hospice staff. Elton was preceded in death by his father, Elton Roberts Sr. Survivors: Wife, Kaye Roberts; sons, Trey and Ethan Roberts and wife, Hailey; mother, Willie Roberts; sisters, Eltorina Ann Roberts and Wilmalene Proffitt; numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws; and many dear friends.
