Eugene (“Mac”) W. McClain, 96, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on March 27, 2025, with his daughter by his side. Known as Gene to family, and as Mac to everyone else, he was born on April 4, 1928 in Burlington, Texas to the late Carl and Nora (Heugatter) McClain.
Eugene loved the Lord, served his country, and was devoted to his family. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was a very kind and thoughtful man. Eugene had a dry sense of humor and always had a joke to tell. He grew up on a farm in Buckholts, Texas and graduated from Buckholts High School in 1945. In 1950, Eugene was drafted into the Army and served in Germany.
During a return visit home while serving in the Army, Eugene married the love of his life, Mary Fritz. They married March 12, 1951 and remained together for over 73 years until her death in 2024. They eventually settled in Fort Worth. Eugene worked as a machinist at Alamo Machine. His dedicated service spanned 45 years.
Eugene loved cars, fixing things, cooking on the grill, and managing his rental properties. Eugene was a working man, never afraid to get his hands dirty. He loved to be with his family and friends. He was a caring and loving father to his only child, Letitia.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary McClain; brother, Charles McClain; and sisters Dorothy Ott and Martha Cook.
Eugene is survived by his daughter, Letitia Davis and her husband, Harry; grandchildren: Lindsey, Jill, and Jenna Davis; sisters: Irene Thornton, Gladys White (Claude), and Velma Jackson; as well as numerous other members of his extended family.
To honor Eugene, a visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, funeral service at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Williams and Lucas Funeral Home located at 517 N. Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76111. Followed immediately by interment service at Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery.
