Evelyn Stephens

HURST -- Evelyn D. Stephens passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011.        Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church, Hurst.        Memorials: To the Impact Fund of Peace Lutheran Church, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or to the Alzheimer's Association.        Evelyn Doretta Sump was born Oct. 20, 1921, to Dick and Ida Sump in Clarinda, Iowa. She graduated from Drake University with a bachelor's degree in education and became an elementary teacher. In 1955, she married Charles Neal Stephens at St. Paul's Lutheran in Fort Worth. She was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hurst.        She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mildred Snively; and brothers, Edgar and wife, Dorothy Sump, and Alfred and wife, Marie Sump.        Survivors: Her husband of 56 years, Charles Stephens; daughters, Grace White and husband, Joel, LaDonna Schwobel and husband, Mark, and Pam Worthen and husband, Karl; and grandchildren, Kara White, Melissa Wood and husband, Chris, Kaitlyn White, Elizabeth Schwobel, Evan Charles Schwobel, Erik Worthen and Laura Worthen.
