FORT WORTH -- Fay Pauline Nunley Chatmas, 79, went to live with her Lord and Savior on Thursday afternoon, May 22, 2008, after a year-long battle with heart problems. Funeral: A private burial service for the family will be held in Hearne. Visitation: Fay will lie in state Saturday in the parlor at Robertson Mueller Harper; her family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. in the Great Room. A native of Hearne, Fay was born the daughter of Leonard and Pauline Nunley. She graduated from Hearne High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin for two years before marrying James G. Chatmas. After her children were in school, she received her diploma from Texas Christian University. Fay taught world history at Trimble Tech for 18 years and, on one occasion, she was named Teacher of the Year. Fay drove for Meals on Wheels for many years, which was one way to give thanks for her many blessings. She was a docent at the Amon Carter Museum and shared her love for art with many visitors. For several years, she volunteered at All Saints Hospital. She and her husband loved to travel and did so for many years. She loved her home and yard and was an ardent bird watcher. Fay also enjoyed spending weekends at the ranch in Hillsboro. Survivors: In addition to her husband of 60 years, Jim, she is survived by her daughter, Nancy and her husband, John; son, Bob and his wife, Jan; and grandchildren, Jennifer, Ben and Emily.
