HALTOM CITY -- Frances L. Spinks Franks departed this life Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011.        Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Interment: Flower Mound Cemetery, Flower Mound.        Visitation: The family will receive friends 9 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service.        Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Flower Mound Cemetery Association, ASPCA, or local animal shelter.        Frances was born March 1, 1920, at her childhood home in Flower Mound, the second youngest of eight children. She graduated in May 1938 from Lewisville High School. She moved to Denton in 1940 after being accepted to the National Youth Program where she honed her skills as a seamstress and also worked at Texas Woman's University's school cafeteria. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the NYA program was canceled, and Frances moved to Fort Worth where she worked at Leonard's (now Dillard's) until 1951. She was then employed by Dr. Oscar Emery as an office nurse in his allergy clinic. During this time, she lived with her sisters, Ola Mae and Juanita. In 1950, she met Adair Franks at Juanita's wedding; they were married in 1953. After Adair's retirement from military service in 1963, they made their permanent home in Haltom City. Frances was a homemaker known for her ability as a seamstress and for her sweet, generous disposition.        Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Adair; parents, Joseph and Esther Spinks; siblings, Sylvia, Bert, Ola Mae, Horace, Truman and Juanita.        Survivors: Daughter, Deborah D. Kern; son-in-law, Roger L. Kern; granddaughter, Rachel Lauren Kern; brother, Darrell T. Spinks; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
