FRANCES HUDSON

FORT WORTH -- Frances Holder Hudson, 88, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, Oct. 12, 2006, at a local hospital. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday in the sanctuary of Forest Hill United Methodist Church, 6401 Hartman Road. The Rev. Buddy Stegman will officiate. Burial: Frances will be laid to rest in Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: She will lie in state Sunday afternoon in the Great Room at Robertson Mueller Harper. Her family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, her family suggests consideration of a contribution in Frances' name to Forest Hill United Methodist Church; or to Under the Trees, 1334 E. Lancaster Ave., Ste. 207, Fort Worth, Texas 76102, 817-870-3896. A native and life resident of Fort Worth, Frances Lorraine was born June 20, 1918, the daughter of Thomas Arthur and Bessie Lee James Holder. She was a graduate of Central High School, now R. L. Paschal. Frances was married in 1942 and prior to the birth of her children, was an associate at Montgomery Ward and Lone Star Gas Company. Motherhood found Frances busy caring for her family, as well as for her parents and her husband's parents. After the death of her husband, she again joined the work force as a sales associate with Dillard's. Frances was very active in her church, Forest Hill United Methodist, and was an avid bridge player there and at area churches, often the sought-after partner. She was a person who always looked for the best in people and generally found it. She accepted the changes that life brought with her characteristic optimism and good humor. She made everyone who knew her glad they did. Her passion for life and the love she shared are inspiring. We love her and will miss her tremendously, but Frances will live on in our hearts. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son. Survivors: Daughter, Janice Hudson of Dallas; daughter-in-law, Sherryl Hudson Simdon and her husband, Bruce of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Lydia and Margo Hudson; brother, Clarence Holder and his wife, Juanita of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Dana Garrison of Denver, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
