HURST -- Frank Burch, 87, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Hurst, 521 W. Pipeline Road. Interment: Frank will be laid to rest at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, prior to the funeral, with full military honors in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Memorials for Frank may be sent to the Chancel Choir at First United Methodist Church of Hurst, Box 1461, Hurst, Texas 76053. Frank was born Aug. 18, 1923, in Wilson, Okla., to the late John and Carrie Burch. Frank was a proud World War II veteran who served as a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps in the European theater. He continued in the Air Force Reserves and retired as a lieutenant colonel. Frank retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after beginning his career after World War II as a teacher and principal, having graduated from Baylor University. Frank was a kind gentleman with a great sense of humor, a philosophical bent and love of intellectual conversations. He was a Sunday school teacher and member of First United Methodist Church of Hurst Chancel Choir. Frank will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors: Loving wife of 65 years, Joyce Burch; children, John Burch, Kathy Garland and husband, Tom, and David Burch and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Jennifer Whitaker and husband, Paul, Tom F. Garland, Natalie Burch and Madeline Burch; and siblings, Ann Cooper, Al Burch and Leonard Burch and wife, Marlys.
