Fratus Whitehead

BEDFORD -- F.W. Whitehead of Bedford went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the age of 77. Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday at First Assembly of God, DFW Church in Bedford. Interment: Isham Cemetery in Fort Worth. Visitation: The Whitehead family will receive friends and family 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. F.W. was born Aug. 14, 1934, in Godley to the Rev. Fratus O. Whitehead and Ruth M. Rice Whitehead. After 35 years of service, he retired from Menasco Manufacturing Corp. in Fort Worth. F.W. spent many years leading others to Christ through a gospel music ministry, Voice of Praise. He especially cherished spending time with his family and friends. Those who celebrated his arrival in heaven were his parents, the Rev. Fratus Whitehead, Ruth Whitehead McGlothlin and the Rev. Henry McGlothlin; sister, Edna Mae Taylor; son, David Whitehead Sr.; and a granddaughter, Wendi Burns. Survivors: F.W.'s legacy of faith, family and love will continue to inspire his family. Separated on earth, to be reunited in heaven one day, are his loving wife of 59 years, Doris Whitehead; son and wife, Don and Kathy Whitehead of Euless; daughter and husband, Darla and Mark Burns of Hurst; daughter-in-law, Patty Whitehead of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
