Frederick Bond

HURST -- Fredrick Allen Bond, beloved husband, father and Papa, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Richland Hills United Methodist Church, 7301 Glenview Drive, North Richland Hills. The Rev. Cal Hoffman Sr., pastor, will officiate. Visitation: The family will receive friends 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Fred was born in Chatham, La., on Dec. 13, 1934, to Helen and Fred E. Bond. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in Jonesboro, La., and received his bachelor's degree from Northeast University of Louisiana, where he was recently inducted into the University Basketball Hall of Fame. He married the love of his life, Juanita Gardina Bond, in 1961, and they celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage on March 25. Upon his retirement, the United States Internal Revenue Service recognized Fred for 35 years of loyal and devoted service, most of which was performed in the Dallas-Fort Worth Region. A longtime member of Diamond Oaks Country Club, Fred was an avid golfer. He was an enthusiastic and faithful fan of both the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. Fred, a kind and compassionate man, was a devoted Christian and a member of Richland Hills United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Bond. Survivors: His loving wife, Juanita; precious children, son, Terrance Bond of Houston and daughter, Jennifer Bond and fiance, Paul Flick, of Irvine, Calif.; loving granddaughter, Allie Bird; sister-in-law, Shirley Goggans and husband, Bill, of New Orleans, La.; nephew, Scott Farmer; nieces, Angela Bond and Kari Lynn Bond; and an infinite number of friends, all who will be eternally grateful for his treasured friendship.
