KELLER -- Capt. Frederick "Rick" M. Dargis passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with stomach cancer. Funeral: 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Gateway Church, 7501 Davis Blvd., North Richland Hills. Interment: 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Memorials: Love and Living Hope, P.O. Box 822663, North Richland Hills, Texas 76182, a ministry that shows God's compassion for the homeless veterans, men, women and children by freely giving love and financial support to the unloved, life to the lifeless, and hope to the hopeless. Rick was born on Oct. 18, 1949, in Chicago, Ill., and was a graduate of Southern Illinois University. He was a pilot and officer in the USAF for many years and a pilot for Southwest Airlines for 28 years. He was known as a man of honesty, integrity and Christian values and greatly loved and respected by his family, friends and co-workers. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Dargis and Josephine Arlauckas, and sister, Diane Dargis Gibertini. Survivors: His loving wife of 32 years, Kathie; daughters, Jennifer Dargis of Abilene, Lauren Dargis of Keller and Kimberly Dargis of Keller; brother, Robert Dargis and sister-in-law, Barbara Dargis, of Palos Park, Ill.; sister, Marilyn Dargis of Indianapolis, Ind.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
