He served on the boards of All Saints Episcopal Hospital, which his grandmother, Maria Dickie Beggs, help found, and the Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show board for 50 years. He was also a board member of the former Continental National Bank. George was a lifelong member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ed Farmer Beggs; and sister, Deborah Beggs Moncrief.
