FORT WORTH -- George James Brothers III, 63, a custodian for the Fort Worth ISD, died Saturday morning, June 13, 2009. Service: 11:30 a.m. Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with military honors. For those wishing to attend, a procession will leave Robertson Mueller Harper promptly at 10:30 a.m. Born July 8, 1945, in Kane, Pa., George was the son of George James Jr. and Hilda Marie McKenna Brothers, who preceded him in death. He married Martha J. Romines Moore on June 21, 1997. George moved to Texas in the late 1960s. He was proud of his military service, having served in the U.S. Army from 1973 until 1977 in Germany and Southeast Asia. He enjoyed visiting neighbors, relaxing with his dogs, Pooh and Sugar, and watching science, military and history programs. George like grilling and going out with Martha and was recently learning to play the harmonica. He attended Christ Chapel Bible Church and had a quiet faith in Jesus Christ. George frequently did nice things for people. One of the children at Stripling Middle School said, "He was a nice guy." Survivors: In addition to his wife, Martha, George is survived by his sons, George James IV of Hagerstown, Md., and Devin McKenna Brothers of Fort Worth; his daughter, Tina Marie Alexander of Hagerstown, Md.; stepsons, William Francis Moore of Ithaca, N.Y., and Christopher Lee Moore of Fort Worth; stepdaughter, Katherine Marie Mitcham and her husband, Sean, of Grovetown, Ga.; eight grandchildren; a stepgrandson, William Spry; three great-grandchildren; his brother, David Robert Brothers of Florida; and numerous loved ones and friends.
