HALTOM CITY -- George Jerry Bullard passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Monday, June 7, 2010, after a stunningly brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He rejoins his beloved wife, Frances Wren Bullard. Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home, 517 N. Sylvania. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Luke United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or Community Hospice. Many thanks for the compassionate care he received from Community Hospice at the Hospice House. Jerry was born May 9, 1924, in Basque County, weighing a whopping 12 pounds, according to the cotton scale. For several years after retirement, Jerry ran a family business, Ceramics by George, with his wife and his more artistic daughters. He thoroughly enjoyed pouring and cleaning the ceramics, but his favorite part was to attend craft shows and converse with both the customers and the other vendors. Jerry spent most of his time on his hobby local sports and college football. He loved TCU football and was a diehard fan since the 1930s. He also enjoyed watching the Rangers and the Mavericks, and he turned into a Cowboys fan when Jerry Jones hired Barry Switzer, and was very fond of the Western Channel and loved to watch old Westerns. After the sudden death of his wife in 1998, we all worried that he wouldn't survive long without her, but he eventually was able to adapt to life on his own. He loved his family and he was always there for any of us when we needed him. We will all miss him, but we are happy that he was able to join those who passed before on the other side. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Wren Bullard; his mother, Bula Bullard; his older brothers, Sam and Jack Gibson Bullard; and his son-in-law, Greg Norris. Survivors: Daughters, Sammye Jorge and her husband, Edward, Beth Price, Randy Norris and Janie Bullard; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Edward and Jan Jorge, Cary and Jolene Jorge, Lisa Price. Amanda and Brandon Fuqua, Daniel Norris, John, Emmitt Crews, Cord Jorge, Kira Haley and Stella Haley; and his cat, Bob.
