George Hill

George Bryant Hill, 62, passed away peacefully Feb. 9, 2012, with his family by his side in Ft. Worth, Texas. George was born August 8, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, to Bernie and Dorothy Bernelis Hill. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1968. After high school, George joined the United States Marine Corps. Soon after, he was sent to Viet Nam where he was wounded in action, for which he earned two Purple Hearts. He also earned a National Defense Service Medal, a Viet Nam Service Medal with one star, a Viet Nam Campaign Medal with Device and a Rifle Marksman Badge. Lance Corporal Hill was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps on Aug. 29, 1974. He attended El Centro Junior College from 1970-1972. From there, he transferred to the University of Texas at Austin (1975-78) where he was a member of the Student Senate, Social & Behavior Council and the Red Ryder Preservation Society. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Government. George worked for 20 years as a Real Estate Appraiser, retiring from Landsafe Appraisal in September, 2008. George was a mentor and advisor to his family and friends. He especially loved being with family, coaching and watching his boys play sports, cheering on the LONGHORNS to national championships, listening to golden oldies, visiting Austin and munching out on the OT special at Dirty Martin's. George is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Marsha; his sons Jason, Travis, Jared (Jessica) and Dalton; sister Sandy; brother-in-laws Roger (Albina) and Wesley (Becky); mother-in-law Martha; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends. George now lives in the house of the Lord; he will greatly be missed. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of George Hill please visit our Sympathy Store.
