FORT WORTH -- George Preston Pattie, 65, a loving father, son, brother and friend, died peacefully Wednesday morning, May 27, 2009, at home. Service: Following committal services in the cemetery at 10 a.m. Monday, George will be laid to rest next to his mother, Mary Sue, in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: He will lie in state Sunday afternoon at Robertson Mueller Harper, where family and friends will be received in the Great Room 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to the Leukemia Foundation or a charity of one's choice is suggested. Born in Fort Worth on Feb. 25, 1944, George was the son of Byron Preston and Mary Sue McDonald Pattie. Following graduation from R.L. Paschal High School in 1962, he joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served two tours in Vietnam. After his military career, George attended the University of Texas at Arlington, earning a degree in economics. He had a fulfilling career in the aviation industry, working for Bell Helicopter, General Dynamics and McDonnell-Douglas, that allowed him to tour the world. Survivors: In addition to his son, Terrence, George is survived by his brother, Donald R. Pattie and his wife, Mary, of Garland; sister, Ilene Pattie Durkalski, also of Garland; nieces, nephews and their families; and Terrence's mother, Robin Renee' Phillips.
