GARLAND -- George Lester Tanner, 68, passed away Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, after a seven-year battle with cancer. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at Prestonwood Baptist Church, Faith Chapel, Plano. Interment: 2 p.m. in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Wolfe City. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst. George was born in Wolfe City in 1938. After graduating from high school at the age of 16, he moved to Dallas and graduated from Arlington State College with a business degree. He started his career in Dallas at Chesebrough-Ponds as a sales representative. Later in his career he left Chesebrough-Ponds and started several successful businesses in import/export and as a manufacturer's representative in the craft business. George was a devoted father and friend. He lived his life with kindness and compassion toward everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
