FORT WORTH -- Gerald Ferguson Rowland, 75, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 14, 2009, at his residence. Service: 2 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home, 517 N. Sylvania Ave., with Jerome Williams officiating. Interment: Following the chapel service, Gerald will be laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Born in Fort Worth on Aug. 29, 1934, Gerald was the son of Harold Jackson and Nina Faye Ferguson Rowland. He attended Trimble Tech High School before joining the U.S. Navy and serving in Korea. Following his tour of duty, Gerald returned to Fort Worth where he worked in the advertising industry before joining the Fort Worth Police Department in 1966. While on the force, Gerald was active in the youth division and community service. He was instrumental in starting the "Pink Panther Program" and the school liaison program with the Fort Worth ISD. He retired from the police department in 1990, after 25 years of service. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Saretta Cate Rowland, Gerald is survived by his daughters, Cathy Haley and her husband, Curtis, Teri Klein and her husband, Craig, Bethany Reid and her husband, Glenn, Becky Jarman and her husband, Curtis, and Kassandra Kubes and her husband, Joe Don; son, Heath Robertson and his wife, Amy; grandchildren, Chad, Chase, Landon, Lauren, Sarah, Jessica, Trey, Rylie, Stephanie, Ty, Regan, Makenna, Avery and Dawson; and great-grandchildren, Clayton, Llayton and Marissa.
