FORT WORTH -- Gerald Ayres Wyatt, 77, died peacefully Saturday morning, May 2, 2009, after a short battle with lung cancer. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary of Central Christian Church, 3205 Hamilton Ave. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: Gerald will lie in state Tuesday at Robertson Mueller Harper; his family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. in the Great Room. Memorials: Shriner's Hospitals for Children, Box 1320, Fort Worth, Texas 76101, or The Christian Arts Museum, 3205 Hamilton Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Gerald was born July 1, 1931, the son of C. L. and Frances Wyatt. He served proudly in the U.S. Air Force and married Mary Suzanne Morton on Feb 6, 1955. His career was sales in the grocery food business; he retired after 37 years with Kraft Foods. In 1968, Gerald and Suzanne moved to Fort Worth, where he became very active in the Masonic bodies. He was a master Mason in Julian Feild Lodge #908, A.F. & A.M., charter member of the Scottish Rite, potentate of Moslah Shrine Center in 1995, DeMolay Preceptory Legion Of Honor, Royal Order of Jesters Court #32, charter member of the International Legion of Honor, charter member of the Flying Fez and Caliph of the Moslah Bedouins in 1977. Gerald served on the board of governors at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Houston. He was on the board of trustees for Central Christian Church, where he and his family have been active for 40 years. He was a volunteer at Baylor All Saints Hospital and the DFW Ambassador Program, where he and Suzanne helped travelers find their way at the airport. Gerald was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a friend to so many and will be missed by all. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors: In addition to his wife of 54 years, Suzanne, Gerald is survived by his son, Gerald A. "Jerry" Wyatt Jr.; daughter, Melanee Posey and her husband, Terry; grandchildren, CJ Wyatt, Zachary Wyatt and Grace Morgan; sister, Sandra Magness of Little Rock, Ark.; and nieces and nephews.
