FORT WORTH -- Charles Gordon Boswell Jr. died peacefully Sunday morning, April 22, 2012, surrounded by loved ones, during his 83rd year. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday at All Saints Episcopal Church, 5001 Crestline Road. Visitation: Family and friends will gather from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Great Room at Robertson Mueller Harper. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to a charity of one's choice, in Gordon's memory, would be greatly appreciated. A true Fort Worth icon has moved on to be with his Higher Power. Born June 6, 1928, in Fort Worth, Gordon's life was remarkably diverse; he enriched the lives of everyone he came in contact with. Gordon attended Texas Christian University and was an avid Frogs fan. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a gifted entrepreneur. After working in his family's floral business for several years, he became a registered securities dealer and stockbroker, then founded and operated Gordon Boswell Specialty Advertising until his retirement in the early '90s. Believing that in the end words and deeds are what mattered, Gordon was affiliated with several charitable organizations including Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Salvation Army, Union Gospel Mission, Boy Scouts of America, United Way, Presbyterian Night Shelter of Fort Worth, Alliance For Children, Botanical Research Institute, Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Fort Worth Symphony, Child Study Center, TCU Century Club. He was a dedicated golfer and loved spending time at Ridglea, Shady Oaks and River Crest country clubs. In recent years, Gordon enjoyed traveling abroad, spending time with family and friends, and was an avid naturalist and outdoorsman. A true people-person, Gordon will be remembered for his quick wit and love of telling a good joke or two (or three!). He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Fredrieka Boswell of Fort Worth; and sisters, Fredrieka Ankele of Fort Worth and Eleanor Croxton of Longview. Survivors: In addition to his sons, Gordon Boswell III of Victoria, E. Brook Boswell of Houston and John R. Boswell of Fort Worth, Gordon is survived by his grandchildren, Christine E. Boswell and Jacob G. Boswell; plus several nieces. Robertson Mueller Harper Funerals & Cremations 1500 Eighth Ave., 817-924-4233
