Grover McElvain

Grover J. "Mac" McElvain, 77, of Fort Worth, Texas, went to be with his heavenly Father on April 25, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer. Mac was born in Ramah, Colorado on December 9, 1932, the son of Grover Cleveland McElvain and Iona M. Scott McElvain. He married Sylvia Genelle Reese on September 17, 1955 in Dayton, New Mexico. "Mac" was well known for his strong commitment to God, family, and country. He served twenty plus years in the USAF which included tours of duty in Vietnam and Korea. Upon completion of his military service he moved his family to Texas where he and his wife received ministry training from the Arlington Baptist College. Together they were involved in Christian schools and various youth ministries. He was a long time member of Covenant Life Baptist Church in Kennedale. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Genelle McElvain; sons, Rick McElvain and wife Tammy and Ted McElvain and wife, Kathy; daughters, Susan Canright and husband Dell and Sharilyn Griffin and husband Arnold; grandchildren, Andrew McElvain and wife Brandilyn, Ryan McElvain and wife Kristin, Buck McElvain and wife Tracy, Justin, Jacob, Kyle and Julie McElvain, Mindy, Brady and Marissa Canright, Cortney, Britney, Tanner and Chase Sellers and Valerie Nettles and husband, Zachary; great grandchildren, Addisyn McElvain, Trinity Nettles, Caleb and Mackenzie Cobb; and sister, Ada Morris. Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Iona McElvain, daughter, Sheryl Ann McElvain, and brothers, Wendell, Harvey and Harold McElvain.
