Gayle Armstrong, 85, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011. Gayle was born in Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1925. Growing up she tap danced, sang, played piano, and enjoyed riding her horse Tony. In 1945 she married her high school sweetheart Jack Armstrong who had just returned from WWII combat in the South Pacific serving on the USS Holly. They returned to Weatherford and attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University. In 1951 they moved to Odessa, Texas and two years later to Ft. Worth where they raised a family. She and Jack had four children: Robert, Linda, Larry, and Craig. Later came seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild at last count. As a homemaker Gayle was an exceptionally good cook, enjoyed gardening, was an avid card player and often filled the house with piano music she played from the big band era. She sang alto in the Methodist Church choir for many years. In the 1980's she and Jack built a beautiful log house in the mountains of central Colorado where they hosted friends and relatives for many summers. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack; Sons, Robert Armstrong and wife Nancy of Dalworthington Gardens, , Larry Armstrong and wife Janey of Hurst, Craig Armstrong and wife Gayle of Ft. Worth; daughter Linda Brown and husband Graham of Lexington; Also, grandchildren Jeff Smith of Houston, Jill Fitch of Melissa, Kristie Ellison of Bastrop, Kate Foley of Plano, Carolina Armstrong of Lufkin, and Kim Taylor of 29 Palms, California.
