Helen Burks

Helen Burks, 89, of Rio Vista, Texas, passed away at 3:35 A.M. on Thursday, June 23, 2011 in the Emery J. Lilge Community Hospice House in Burleson. Helen was born in Santa Anna, Coleman County, Texas on October 30, 1921, the daughter of Emmitt Osman Cherry and Ocee Adela Stricklin Cherry. She married Clyde Elwood Burks on July 31, 1943 in Los Angeles, California. A college graduate, Helen was an educator, bookkeeper, and seamstress just to mention a few of her many talents. She is survived by her Son, E.M. "Stoney" Burks and Daughter, Dorinda Burks Hogan; Two grandsons, Jeromy Burks and Sgt. Maj. Jason Burks; and three great-grandchildren.
