FORT WORTH -- Helen Risenhoover McDade entered heaven on her 90th birthday, Friday, Oct. 18, 2013. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home, 517 N. Sylvania Ave. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was a loving woman and a devoted Christian who was an excellent cook and seamstress, maintained a vegetable garden and enjoyed canning. She chopped wood until she was 80 years old and was a self-appointed caretaker who mowed lawns for her elderly neighbors. She was a beloved member of First Baptist Church of Fort Worth and cooked in the church kitchen for more than 20 years. She was famous for her pies, winning at dominoes and her wonderful sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie C. McDade Sr.; granddaughter, Rhonda Renee Wheeler; daughter-in-law, Linda McDade; parents; four brothers; and one sister. Survivors: She is survived by her son, Charlie C. McDade Jr.; daughters, Marie McDade Spivey and husband, Bobby, Frances Wheeler Bakke and husband, Otis; grandsons, Donald Wheeler and wife, Kerri, Charles Wheeler and wife, Belinda, Stephen Spivey and Darin McDade; granddaughters, Shelley Debnam and husband, Sam, Debbie Ables and husband, Jason; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Blake, Chase, Stetson, Cody, Nathan and Baby Cash; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother; three sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
