Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southlake Assembly of God. Helen was born in San Angelo on Dec. 30, 1921, and moved to Roanoke as a young woman. She worked as a keypunch operator for many years and was a longtime member of Southlake Assembly of God. Helen hoped to be remembered as one who showed God's love. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Dr. James M. Turner and Dawn Denton, R.N., of Texas Oncology for their compassionate care. The family also offers a special thanks to Helen's loving caregivers, Beckie Brown and Cynthia Robinson. Survivors: Sons, Philip Vaughan and wife, Cindy, and Danny Mowdy and wife, Donna; granddaughters, Tina Vaughan, April Vaughan and Christi McMillon; great-grandson, Noah McMillon; sister, Louise Morris; brothers, George Emmett and Howard Smith; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
