BURLESON -- Henry A. Reid, 91, of Burleson went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 26, 2012. Memorial Service: 10 a.m. Thursday at Retta Baptist Church in Burleson. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdaym at Retta Baptist Church in Burleson. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Missions at Retta Baptist Church, Burleson. Henry was born on Nov. 14, 1920. At the age of 7, he and his family migrated to Texas in two covered wagons. He served in the Army and then reenlisted in the Navy as a Seabee, where he served through both World War II and the Korean War. He retired after 22 years of service with 8 years in the Reserves. He also worked for and retired from the city of Burleson in construction and development. Henry then worked for and retired from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in maintenance. Henry loved to help the church and devoted his time to repairing and driving buses so the church could transport members to worship and loved to teach Sunday school. He was devoted to his family, community, country and God. Mr. Reid was a blessing and a joy to those who knew him. Survivors: Wife, Martha Reid, the love of his life and wife of 52 years; sisters, Revedene Swain and Marie Cox; son, Lawrence Reid and wife, Cynthia, of Bedford; daughters, Darla Jurries and husband, Randy, and Robyn Britt and husband, Terry, all of Burleson; and his pride and joy, grandchildren, Patrick and Christopher Britt, Grant and Krystin Jurries, and Evan Reid.
