Herbert Eakins

HURST -- Herb Eakins Jr., 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009.        Funeral: 3 p.m. Sunday at Peace Lutheran Church in Hurst. Visitation: The family will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Lucas Hurst Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst.        Memorials: You may honor Herb's memory with a donation to the Missions Fund at Peace Lutheran Church.        Herbert was born March 14, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, (Cuyahoga County) to Herbert W. Eakins Sr. and Juanita Jeckal. Herb was the youngest student at age 16 to attend Whittenberg College in Springfield, Ohio, graduating with a degree in chemistry. In 1969, Herb moved to Texas, where he resided in North Richland Hills for 40 years. For many years he enjoyed volunteering at Peace Lutheran Church in Hurst where he was a member for 27 years.
