EULESS -- Herman Carroll Ford, a retired lieutenant colonel, was promoted to his final assignment Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, by his heavenly Commander after 77 years of serving family, friends and country. Memorial service: 4 p.m. Monday at The Met Church, 891 Keller Parkway in Keller. Interment: Lt. Col. Ford will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. with full military honors in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Lane B. Visitation: The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lucas Funeral Home, 137 E. Hill St., Keller. Memorials: He was passionate about his church and, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of The Met Church in Keller. Herman Carroll began his distinguished military career with the Air Force 61st Fighter Squad and retired as a pilot with the Texas Air National Guard. A loyal alumni of the University of Texas, Herman Carroll was also a member of the 1947 State Champion Odessa Bronco football team. After retiring as a sales manager with Oakite Chemicals, Carroll occupied his time watching all the grandkids play ball. Survivors: He is survived by his wife and soulmate, Linda Ford; his children, Lisa Little, Rick and Claudia Ford, Michelle and Mike Bartsch, Steve and Leanne Messer, Stephanie and Karl Petzold; grandchildren, Brad, Kyle, Ashlee, Lauren, Austin, Meagan, Mitch, Aaron, Hudson, Corbin, Michael, Piper and Baylor; his beloved cousins, Virginia Gardiner, O.W.
