BEDFORD -- Howard Gail Sportsman, 84, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday in Lucas Funeral Chapel, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Gail, the son of George and Ruby Burnett Sportsman, was born Jan. 20, 1929, in Marceline, Mo. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Gail was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hurst, James V. Callan Lodge #1422, AF&AM, and American Legion Post #379. He retired from American Airlines after 35 years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eulah Sportsman; brother, Carol Sportsman; and sister, Willadean Sanders. Survivors: Wife, Ruth Dellinger Sportsman; daughters, Vicki Massey and husband, Bud, and Gayla Johnson and husband, Wendell; stepson, David Dellinger and wife, Nicole; grandchildren, Larry and Terry Gurley, and Gail Roberds; stepgrandchildren, Jakob Dellinger, Jessyca Dellinger, Sara Dellinger and Margaret Dellinger; great-grandchildren, Cynthia Roberds, Joseph Cranfield III; and brother, Jerry Sportsman.
