IRENE UBERMAN

FORT WORTH -- Irene Elizabeth Uberman, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday morning, April 7, 2011, during her 89th year.        Service: Irene was remembered in a private family service on Saturday, April 9.        Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, in her memory, is suggested.        Born in Grand Prairie on Oct. 24, 1921, Irene was the daughter of Elza and Lottie Whitley. She was married to Sid Uberman for 61 years and had four children before his death in 2008.        Irene attended the University of Texas at Arlington and went on to fly with American Airlines. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth where she also served as a volunteer.        She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Lowell Whitley; and sister, Sue Waggoner.        Survivors: In addition to her four children, Irene is survived by 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Windsor; and nieces and nephews and their families.
