NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Iva Arlene Peterson McLain, 81, of North Richland Hills and originally from Sherwood, N.D., passed away Wednesday morning, March 21, 2012, at her home with her family by her side. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church in Hurst, with Pastor Walter Waiser conducting the service. Interment: Tuesday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Iva was born in Sherwood, N.D., Renville County, on June 27, 1930, to the late John and Constance Holter Peterson. She grew up on a farm in Sherwood and graduated from Sherwood High School in 1948. Iva married Myrle Orland McLain on Feb. 12, 1950, at First Lutheran Church in Minot, N.D. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Iva was preceded in death by six brothers, Alfred Peterson of Mohall, N.D., Roy Peterson of Chandler, Ariz., Ward Peterson of Los Angeles, Calif., Emil Peterson of Yuma, Ariz., Leland Peterson of Boise, Idaho, and Dale Peterson of Glenmont, Ohio. Survivors: Iva is survived by her husband, Myrle; her children, daughter, Orlene Kitchens (Ron) of Grand Prairie, and three sons, Guy McLain (Susie) of Springtown, Hal McLain (Carol) of Conway, Ark., and Scott McLain (Teresa) of North Richland Hills. In addition, Iva leaves 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister Alda LaCrosse of Mohall, N.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
