J. Jones

JD Jones, 84, of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, in Arlington.JD Jones was born in Waxahachie on February 27, 1924. He was the second son of Charles Jones & Mamie Gibson Jones. His family later moved to Mansfield where he and his Brother, Pierce, grew up. He attended school at the Bludworth School on Cardinal Rd in what was then, rural Mansfield and later graduated from Mansfield High School in 1941. He was called to serve his Country in WWII in the Army Air Corp. and was sent to Burma, India to repair damaged aircraft. While training in Buffalo, NY he met Rita Marie Davis. He left for India with a promise to return to Rita after the war. As the war ended and he was honorably discharged, he began a long journey from California to El Paso by train and car back to Mansfield. Soon after Christmas of 1945 he returned to New York and he and Rita were married on February 14, 1946. JD & Rita then returned to Mansfield in 1947 to help care for his ill father. There, they reared three children. JD went to work for General Dynamics and remained there until his retirement in 1987. After retirement he returned every December for the annual retirees Christmas Luncheon to visit with the many friends he made throughout his career there. He shared his passion of fishing with all that knew him and especially his Children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren. He made two trips a year to Port Aransas for the last 20 years where he spent a week at a time. He always returned with an abundance of fish, stories, and memories from every trip and he always went with his family that loved him dearly. Just like him, the stories got better as the years passed. Also after retirement, he became a Professional Garage Salesman. He always had a bargain to sell, buy, or donate to those in need. His kind and generous nature was obvious to anyone whether it was family, friend, or strangers. The Family of JD Jones would like to extend a very special Thank You to Jill Keyrouze, a Mansfield Postal Carrier who came to his aid, to the EMS for their prompt response, and to all of the Staff at Arlington MCA- ICU Unit for their care of our Dad and Grandpa during his last days with us. J.D. was preceded in death by wife of 43 years, Rita Marie Jones and parents, Charles Hugh Jones & Mamie Augusta Gibson Jones. He is survived by Daughters: Diane Trojacek and Husband, Don. Cheryl Hadley, and Husband, Pat. Son: David Jones and Wife, Pam. Brother: Pierce Jones and Wife, Joyce. Grandchildren: John Ashcraft and Wife, Carmen. Bryan Jones and Wife, Teresa. Melissa Roberson and Husband, Jon. Michael Hadley, Christopher Hadley. Great Grandchildren: Molly Ashcraft, Lindsee Hix, Baylee Jones, Shelby Jones, Gracie Jones.
