Jack Hawkins

Jackie James Hawkins, 67, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, June 9, 2010.        A memorial service in honor and celebration of Jack's life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Lucas Keller Funeral Chapel, 137 E. Hill St., Keller.        Jack succumbed to the effects of a back injury that occurred while he worked for the U.S. Postal Service 10 years ago, which resulted in paraplegia. Loved by family, friends and the many who met him throughout his life, he shared a gentle kindness with the world that will be dearly missed.        Deaf from birth, and confined for the last 10 years to a bed and wheelchair, he faced every obstacle with calm, smiling tenacity that was an inspiration. He never ceased to seek out happiness in the simple joys of life.        Jack is survived by his Wife, Jan; children, Jeff and Jenna; grandchildren, Stephen and Cassie; brothers, Jerry and John; sister, Linda; and countless others he touched.
