Born in Denver, Colo., on July 27, 1917, Jack grew up in Omaha, Neb. In 1940, he moved to Glendale, Calif., where he worked as an optical technician. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic and optician with the 554th Optical Repair Detachment in Japan. Upon discharge from the service, he returned to California, where he met Margaret V. Blaine. They married in 1947 and raised a family there. After his wife, Margaret, passed away in 1984, he later met and married Nancy Lee Price in 1987, relocating to Fort Worth, where they lived until her passing in 2005. Jack was a devoted husband and nurturing, loving father and grandfather. He was an active member of Birdville Church of Christ, leaving many loving friends. Jack was an avid model train and airplane enthusiast and owned a hobby shop for several years before retiring in 1972. Survivors: Children, retired U.S. Navy Capt. Thomas M. McKannon of Dumfries, Va., Paul B. McKannon of Eugene, Ore., and Janet M. McKannon of Mesquite; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
