HURST -- James Emmett Farner Sr., 87, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at a local care center. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday, Lucas Hurst Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. James, the son of Fred and Lela Murray Farner, was born March 6, 1920, in Hutchins. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1975. He was a 45-year member of Richland Hills Church of Christ. James was a ham radio operator. He also enjoyed computers and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Survivors: Wife, Mary Farner; sons, James Farner Jr. and wife, Melissa, Charles Morris and wife, Martha; daughter, Kathryn Engel and husband, Tom; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two foster grandchildren; brother, Fred Farner Jr. and wife, Rebecca; and sister, Lorene Calvin.
