SAGINAW -- James Denton Rice, 32, rode from this life into eternal life Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Interment: 1 p.m. Monday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane B, with military honors. Visitation: The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Jim was 13 days away from celebrating his 33rd birthday. In what feels to us like a short life, he still lived an amazing life. After graduating from high school, he went straight into the Navy. After four years serving his country, he came back home to marry his high school sweetheart and best friend. They just celebrated 10 years of marriage together. He also proudly served his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was the most amazing man; he was a loving husband, son, brother and uncle. Jim was a hero in the eyes of his nephews and nieces. Anyone who knew him loved him. Words could never express how our hearts ache and how our lives are forever changed. He was fearless and went home doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle. Survivors: His loving wife of 10 years, Tiana Rice; parents, Jeremiah and Marsha Rice; brother, Brent Rice; sisters, Janelle Colwell and Maribeth Rice-Williams; in-laws, Wayne and Elaine Mertz; grandfather, John Gumm; brothers-in-law, Bill Colwell, Donny Williams, Dale Mertz and Bryden Mertz; sisters-in-law, Sara Rice and Sanya Brown; nine nephews; and three nieces.
