FORT WORTH -- Fort Worth - James Edward Warren (Jim), 81, died peacefully at home with family at his side Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011. Service: 11 a.m. Monday, Feb 14, at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst. Visitation after service at the funeral home. Interment: 1:45 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Jim was born Dec. 13, 1929 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Ivan Scott Warren and Edna Shelton Warren. When about three years old, his family moved to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas where he spent his childhood. Jim graduated high school from Allen Military Academy in Bryan, Texas. During the Korean War, he served in the 73rd Engineer Combat Battalion. Upon his discharge from the army, Jim completed a Bachelor's degree from Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas followed by post graduate studies at the University of Houston. Jim met Mary Christine Fedrick Warren (Chris) his wife of 52 years after starting work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1958. Together they raised a family while he served in the Galveston and later Albuquerque districts before settling in Fort Worth. He retired from the Corps of Engineers in 1988 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed restoring Ford Mustang cars and was a founding member of the North Texas Mustang Club. Later in life Jim developed a passion for genealogy. Lifelong hobbies he shared with his sons included model trains and planes. Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother. Survivors: Wife, Chris; Sons, James Edward Warren II and his wife Lori, and Allen Scott Warren; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
