ARLINGTON -- James "Jim" Whitlow, 63, fought a courageous six-year battle with Pick's disease that ended Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011. Funeral: The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim's name to Red Cross, redcross.org/donate, or Big Brothers Big Sisters, bbbs.org/donate. Jim will be best remembered for his never-ending sense of volunteerism. He loved his job as a utility repairman at General Motors Arlington plant for over 30 years. He also loved his volunteer work with the Red Cross and Big Brother, Big Sister organization. The family would like to thank Avalon for their excellent care and love over the years. Survivors: He will be sadly missed by his son, James Whitlow; mother, Hazel Funderburgh; oldest brother, Thomas Whitlow; and sister, Clara Walters.
