James Whitten

James "Wayne" Whitten, 79, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at a North Richland Hills hospital in the presence of his loving family. Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, in Lucas Funeral Home Chapel, 137 E. Hill St., Keller, Lawrence Hammond officiating. Burial: Wayne will be laid to rest at 1:30 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: Wayne will lie in state at the Lucas Keller Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Wayne was born July 19, 1932, in Marshall Hill, Okla., to James Grover and Frances M. Wicker Whitten. The passions of Wayne's life were his family and music. He loved music and made many recordings and played and sang with many artists across the years. He worked for several years for LTV in their purchasing division. Wayne could do many things. His family said, "He was a jack of all trades and master of all." Wayne proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In addition to his parents Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Whitten, Sept. 17, 2000; siblings, Ina, Grace, Virgil, Doyle, Jewel, Dessie, Henry, Lillie, and one unnamed. Survivors: Loving wife, Paula Whitten; daughter, Deborah Brown and husband, Mark; son, David Whitten and wife, Dubby; grandchildren, Briana Slayton, Trisha Morgan, Ana Whitten, Brandon Brown and Tyler Weldon; and great-grandchildren, Gabriel Slayton, Ashlyn Morgan, Ella Dietrich and Annalyn Morgan.
