Jerome Valentine Bielamowicz honorably surrendered to this life at his home in Arlington, Texas, in the arms of his devoted wife, Josephine, on January 4, 2011, after a long battle with diabetes. Born in Falls County, Texas, on February 9, 1922, to Joe F. and Veronica Bielamowicz, Jerome helped out on the family farm and developed his love to dance and to polka. He received his diploma from Bremond High School yet was drafted for service in WWII without formally graduating. Before the army could deploy him, Jerome found the "most beautiful girl in church" and set his sights on Josephine Kasowski. Although Josephine denied his initial offer of a date, Jerome eventually wooed her with numerous letters and postcards while stationed in Italy. Josephine still jokes that he fell for the "rejected stone," but Jerome won her heart for 65 years. Jerome and Josephine first settled in Bremond, Texas, raising children, crops and cattle. When the crops failed after a horrible drought in 1957, he had no choice but to move his wife and children to Dallas to find work. He managed to get a job at the General Portland Cement Company where he worked as a mixed chemist for 24 years. Times were tough, but Jerome was always a fighter. This mentality shined through him as brightly as his smile. Survivors: wife, Josephine; His spirit survives in all 11 of his children, Jerome, Jr., Mark, Phillip, Thomas, Cecilia, Mary Ann, Bernadette, Matthew, Stephen, Norbert, and Bridget; as well as in their many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
