Jerry Wesley Serratt of North Richland Hills, Texas, died peacefully in Fort Worth, Texas, on February 9, 2015 at the age of 77. Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patsy Clancy Serratt of North Richland Hills, Texas; two sons, Kevin Serratt of Houston, Texas, and Kent Serratt and wife, Connie, of DeSoto, Texas; brother Olen Serratt and wife, Marilyn Obrig, of Waynesville, North Carolina; and beloved grandchildren Dylan Serratt of Houston, Texas, Maddie Serratt of Houston, Texas, and Parker Holland of DeSoto, Texas. He is preceded in death by parents Kelley Serratt and Thelma Smithee Serratt and by brother Noel Serratt. Jerry was born on October 23, 1937 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Kelley and Thelma Serratt. After graduating from Midwestern University in 1961, Jerry was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army, served in Korea and Vietnam, and finished his Army career at the Pentagon. Included in his awards for military service were the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal and the Legion of Merit. Jerry and Patsy Ann Clancy married in Baltimore, Maryland in 1962, and settled in Falls Church, Virginia, after welcoming sons Kevin and Kent. Following Jerry's retirement from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1981, the couple returned to Jerry's native Texas. He continued his career next at General Dynamics, then as a nursing home administrator, and finally as a volunteer credentialed mediator in Tarrant County. Visitation on Thursday, February 12 from 6-8 pm at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas. Interment will be at DFW National Cemetery. Jerry's family would like to thank Josie Morton for her care and devotion.
