Jessie Polk departed from us to be with to be with her Heavenly Father on February 18, 2019. She was born on June 20, 1931, in Palestine, Texas to George and Willie Pearl Anderson. Jessie graduated from A.M. Story High School in Palestine, Texas. For over 40 years she worked and owned Polk’s Barbershop located in the heart of Stop Six on Ramey Ave. She was preceded in death by her Parents: George and Willie Pearl Anderson; Husband: James Polk; first Husband: Arthur Mathis Jr.; Siblings: Johnnie Anderson, Katherine Anderson, Vivian Brown and Ruby Wade; Niece: Gloria Conley; Nephew: Gary Anderson; and Granddaughter: Belinda McWilliams. She is survived by her daughters: Janice Valentine and Sherry Mathis; Siblings: Lloyd Anderson and Bertha Hollie; Grandchildren: Calvin Valentine and LaShunda Valentine; Great-gGrandchildren: ZaQueshala Lopez, Treneka McWilliams, Shamiya Valentine, Tiana Valentine; C’Quan Brooks-Valentine, TreyQuan Brooks-Valentine, Tyrees Brooks-Valentine, and TyJae Brooks-Valentine; Nieces: Kim Anderson, Leomia Dale, Eddie Ruth McMillian, Synthia Williams, and Angela Anderson; Nephews: Kevin Anderson and Johnnie Anderson Jr.; and a host of other relatives.
