HALTOM CITY -- Temple Wyatt quietly passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at a local hospital. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Lucas Funeral Home, 517 N. Sylvania. Interment: Mount Olivet. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Order of the Eastern Star Education Fund. Temple was born in Pottsboro on Sept. 16, 1919. She moved to Fort Worth in 1939 and to Haltom City in 1958, along with her husband, Claudie Wyatt, and children. She was a graduate of Brantley Draughn School of Business and retired from Washington National Insurance Co. after 22 years of service at the age of 59. Temple was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a past matron of Haltom City Chapter #982 and a current member of North Fort Worth Chapter #684. Her church membership was at Oak Knoll Baptist. She was the loving anchor and matriarch of a large family. According to her, none of her grandchildren would have survived if she were not involved. Her tender loving care for everyone she loved will be greatly missed. Temple was preceded in death by her parents, Porter and Margaret Jackson; brothers, Rex and Boyce Jackson; sisters, Louise McWilliams and Thelma Harris; and sons, Jim Hilliard, Bob Preston and Dennis Hilliard. Survivors: Son, Kenneth Hilliard and wife, Pat; daughters-in-law, Marian Hillard and Lucille Preston; stepson, David Wyatt and wife, Elena; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
