Jim A. Pettigrew ARLINGTON -- Jimmy Anderson Pettigrew, passed away peacefully at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2006, at a hospital in Mansfield after a 10-month battle with lung cancer. Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday in Blessing Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, 401 Elm St., Mansfield. Burial: Skyvue Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Blessing Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to a hospice or charity of choice in his memory. Jimmy was born to Anderson and Lillie Pettigrew on Nov. 10, 1937, in Stantonville, Tenn. He married Mary Ellen Wallace on Jan. 14, 1961. Together they parented two sons, Mitchell Anderson and Timothy Wade. Jimmy was a friend to all who knew him and those who took time to get to know him better, found a true lifelong friend. He always had a humorous story to tell about his upbringing or someone he may have met along the way. He had a wit about him that sparked smiles in all of those he came in contact with. Jimmy's commitment to his family and friends was reflected in the moment of his death as he was surrounded by those who loved him. Waiting to meeet him in heaven were his parents, brother and his oldest son, Mitch, who passed away June 27, 2005. The family would like to thank the staff at Kindred Hospital in Mansfield, for the care and compassion they showed him, his family and friends during these final days. Survivors: Wife, Mary Ellen Pettigrew of Arlington; son, Sgt. 1st Class Timothy Wade Pettigrew of Fort Bragg, N.C.; grandchildren, Christopher, Hailey and Jarrett; and siblings, Lowell Pettigrew of Risco, Mo., and Russell Pettigrew of Lake, Mich.
