John Huggins

MILAM -- John Wayne Huggins of Milam, Texas passed away February 5, 2010.        Service: 1 PM Saturday, at Blessing Funeral Home. Visitation: 6-8 PM Friday at Blessing Funeral Home. Interment: Mansfield Cemetery.        Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans DAV Fund.        John was born in Paris, Texas on August 26, 1942, to William (Bill) and Pearline Huggins.        John was a Vietnam Veteran and Spelialist five E5,ctrp,7th sqad,17th air calvary, blue ghost. He was proud to serve his country. He received accommodations for actively participating in more than twenty-five aerial missions over hostile territory. He received the National Defense Service Medal: Vietnam Service Medal: Vietnam Campaign Medal: Air Medal: 3 Purple Hearts: Army Commendation Medal: Three Expert Medals.        John moved to East Texas on Toledo Bend Lake where he became involved in forestery. John traveled the Pro-Bass fishing circuit and won several tournaments. He has been President of the Slaughter Hunting Lease for several years.        He was preceded in death by parents Bill and Pearline.        Survivors: daughter, Mary Lynn Huggins Kendrick of Victoria; grandsons, Kyle Jacob Kendrick of Victoria and Airman Chase William Kendrick; great granddaughter, Kylin Anne Kendrick of Victoria; friend and companion Kay Huggins Ullman of Milam.
