FORT WORTH -- John Jerome Powell, 67, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 17, 2008. Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper. The Rev. Raymond Stands will officiate. A Masonic service will follow under the auspices of Julian Feild Lodge #908, A.F. & A.M. John's wishes were for cremation; his cremated remains will be placed on the family plot in Eastland. Visitation: Mr. Powell will lie in state Friday in the Parlor at Robertson Mueller Harper; his family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. in the Great Room. Born in Cisco on Feb. 1, 1941, John was the son of Emmett and Lilla Hedlee Powell. He was raised in Eastland where he graduated from high school. While attending North Texas State University, he became a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. John was a former member of the Fort Worth Jaycees. He was a JCI senator, past president of the Texas JCI Senate and past commander of the Texas Jaycee Rattlesnake Corps. His memberships also included Julian Feild Lodge #908, A.F. & A.M., where he was a past master, the Scottish Rite Bodies and Moslah Shrine. He retired from sales with Texas Electric. Survivors: In addition to his wife, George Ann Cravens Powell of Fort Worth, John is survived by his children, Edward Powell and his wife, Katie, of Phoenix, Ariz., and daughter, Elizabeth Powell Dillard and her husband, Will, of Cedar Hill; and his grandchildren, Emma, William and Ciara Powell and John Dillard and Amanda Dillard Dishner and her husband, George.
