John Edward Strew, 86, a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, in Fort Worth. ??? Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Blessing Colonial Chapel, 401 Elm St., Mansfield. Burial: Laurel Land Cemetery, Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Blessing Funeral Home. ??? Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Emery J. Lilge Hospice House, 301 Medpark Circle, Burleson 76028. ??? John was born May 21, 1919, in Chicago, Ill. His accomplishments include graduating from Texas Wesleyan College in 1952, retiring from the U.S. Post Office in 1982, and proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. John had lived in Rendon for 35 years and been a faithful member of Retta Baptist Church. ??? He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorene H. Strew. ??? Survivors: Wife, Dorothy Hitzfeld Strew; children, Jerry Strew, and Sharon Johnson; grandsons, Greg and Gary Johnson; and five great-grandchildren.
