Johnnie Helmick

MANSFIELD -- Maxine Helmick, 81, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011. Maxine was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Britton. She was a lifelong resident of Mansfield. Maxine graduated in 1947 from Mansfield High School, where she met and later married Vernon Helmick, her high school sweetheart, June 17, 1950. She and Vernon loved to go camping and collect pottery. She was a nurse for Dr. Kennedy in Mansfield for 20 years, retiring in 1984. After retirement, she and Vernon looked forward to camping at Galveston State Park and Colorado each year with many friends and other retirees. Maxine was a very good cook, especially those big dinners with the family on Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Mansfield, where she and Vernon got married. She will be missed very much by family and friends, whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 59 years, Vernon Helmick, in 2010.  Survivors: Children, Johnny, Terry and Tracy Helmick; grandchildren, Jerrett Helmick, Terra Parsons, Shayne Helmick, Chase Helmick and Baylee Helmick Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Haylee, Kaylee, Rylan and Greysen.
