FORT WORTH -- Jonne Hightower Spivey was born Sept. 28, 1914, in Thorp Spring and passed away at the age of 93 years on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, in Fort Worth. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth. Visitation: The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home, 517 N. Sylvania Ave. in Fort Worth. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She gave her entire family a great appreciation for life and laughter. Jonne Spivey was the daughter of William Thomas Hightower, a pioneer educator in Texas, and Judith Irene Walsh Hightower. At an early age she moved to Fort Worth and was a lifetime resident of the city. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Milam Pierce Spivey; her grandson, Joseph Conrad Spivey; her brothers, Carlton, Paul, Harley, Charles, Wilber and Cato Hightower; and sister, Mineola Sanders.
