Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to organizations supporting pets and their care Mrs. Freeman was born June 8, 1930, in Fort Worth, to H. Guy and Alma Gosney Hoffman. A graduate of Polytechnic High School, she completed a bachelors degree at Texas Christian University and masters degree at North Texas State University. Following in the career paths of her parents and brother, Charles Reid Hoffman, she was a professional educator, serving for many years as a teacher and reading specialist for the Fort Worth Independent School District. Her expression of her love of flowers ranged from a longtime membership in a ladies garden club to owning a flower shop. She actively supported TCU sports and fund raising to build the TCU alumni center; volunteered many years at Harris Hospital and assisted in fund raising for specialized hospital equipment. In maturity, Mrs. Freeman modeled fashions for Neiman-Marcus. In 1950, she married Joe Ben Freeman, a Fort Worth teacher and principal. Their marriage was characterized by a share commitment to family, friends, church life, education, TCU athletics and, although somewhat reluctantly on her part... ranching. Her interests in cooking, gardening, crafting, travel and entertaining friends were pursued with passion. Her sense of humor was consistently self-deprecating, yet her talents were wide-ranging and the products of these were both admired and enjoyed by many. As she has now departed human life, she will be remembered by her family and those whose lives were touched, influenced or shaped by this remarkable person. Requiescat in Pace. Mrs. Freeman was predeceased, in 2006, by her husband, Joe Ben Freeman. Survivors: Mrs. Freeman is survived by nephew and nieces, Charles Hoffman Jr., Vivian Hoffman, Anna Treadway and Wende Copp; nine great-nieces and nephews; devoted friends Charles and Elaine Edmonds; and her beloved puppy, Sam. A special thank you is extended to the staff of Community Hospice and the Waterford at Cooper for exceptional care and compassion.
