Kathleen (Kathy) Marie Sears, 67, of Euless died on Thursday, November 17, 2011, holding hands with her two daughters and niece, after a courageous, yet brief brave battle with Bile Duct Cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma). Kathy was born on January 8, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois to Leonard and Anne Schlau. She resided in Illinois until a job transfer to Texas in 1984. Kathy spent 25 years as a corporate travel agent, retired in 2010,. She had organized team travel for the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Mavericks, and Dallas Sidekicks. She also planned some travel for then Governor George W. Bush, and was a guest at the 1995 Inaugural Ball. She remained a loyal Dallas Mavericks fan, even after her retirement. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Anne Schlau ,and, her former husband Sgt. Gregory Sears of IL, and her nephew Michael Segura of Tucson, AZ. Kathy is survived by her daughters and son-in-law; Becky Klingensmith Pelfrey and husband Bill of Arlington; and Sue Klingensmith Abbey of Rockledge, FL, grandchildren: Lance Morris of Mansfield, Brittany Hagen of Orlando, FL, and Cory and Jennifer Israelow, Drew and Autumn Pelfrey of Arlington; sister Elaine Segura of Tucson, AZ; nephews Peter Segura of Phoenix, AZ, and Nick Segura of Aurora, CO; great-aunt Kay Anselmo of Chicago, IL; and numerous relatives in the Chicago and Indiana areas. She also adored her dog, Buddy, who was adopted by a new family a week prior to her death. Memorial donations may be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation and Heart to Heart Hospice. The family wishes their sincere appreciation to Heart to Heart hospice for providing excellent end-of-life care, and especially to Michelle Horton, RN, for treating our mother like family until the end.
